At launch, it was sold either as a standalone unit, or bundled with one of several games, among them Super Mario Land and Tetris. All the corners of the portrait-oriented rectangular unit are softly rounded, except for the bottom right, which is curved. The color scheme is made from two tones of grey with accents of black, blue, and dark magenta. The console features a dot-matrix screen with adjustable contrast dial, five game control buttons (a directional pad, two game buttons, and "START" and "SELECT"), a single speaker with adjustable volume dial and, like its rivals, uses cartridges as physical media for games. It is Nintendo's second handheld game console and combines features from both the Game & Watch handheld and NES home system. It was designed by the same team that developed the Game & Watch series of handheld electronic games and several Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) games: Satoru Okada, Gunpei Yokoi, and Nintendo Research & Development 1. It was first released in Japan on April 21, 1989, in North America later the same year, and in Europe in late 1990.

The Game Boy is an 8-bit fourth generation handheld game console developed and manufactured by Nintendo. I don't have a very big hard drive so I don't think I'll be doing any more current systems, maybe eventually an Xbox and PS2 one, but I'll need more hard drive space to have the larger games sitting on it seeding.Worldwide: 118.69 million (including Play It Loud! edition, Game Boy Pocket, Game Boy Light and Game Boy Color units) I was going to do a NEOGEO pack but all the packs of ROMs I could find to work with had shortened file names for the games so it was just going to be too difficult to find each game in the list. I thought of maybe doing some hidden gem ones, but I think they'll be too hard to come up with solid lists. You can then build off of these packs to create your own personal curated list of games without having to sort through an entire library of games.Īs of now, I don't think I'll be doing any more packs.

You may not agree with the ranking of each game, but the idea of each pack is to try and highlight most of the best games from that console.

All of the rankings are from lists I found on other sites. As I worked through the lists I found that some weren't exactly 100 games, and there are a few games I wasn't able to find but they are noted within the text file included with each pack. Hopefully, these packs can make picking the next game a bit easier. While a full pack of an entire consoles library is super cool, it can be overwhelming. Here are my packs of the "Top 100 Games" from most of the older consoles (8bit to early 3D).
